You will notice that it takes pressure to pull the gear shift lever to the left to get into the 1st and 2nd gear gate.
The static position of the gear shift lever, which is maintained by the detent springs, is in the 3rd and 4th gear gate. There are two detent springs to the right and and one to the left on your transmission.
